Wow, it’s finally over
John Stevens’ painful journey is finally over. Nice job America. Too bad you woke up one week too late. George, step it up man, or you’re next. You’re better than this.
Here’s how I think things should go tonight…
My guess of how well people did, with the one that should be voted off, based on performance.
1 – La Toya London
2 – Diana DeGarmo
3 – Jasmine Trias
4 – Fantasia Barrino
5 – George Huff
6 – John Stevens
You voted out who?!
I have a fatal flaw in my list of picks for American Idol and how I thought this should go; I was basing my picks on talent. What was I thinking? Apparently America doesn’t believe in voting this way, or there is no way in the world Jennifer would have been voted out. I am really not sure what people are voting on anymore. John is still who I have the biggest issue with. He is really not very good. Why is he still there?
I didn’t get a chance to get my picks up in time, but my top 3 ended up being the bottom 3 any way. It was Tamayra all over again. People thought she was so good she was safe. Wrong! I was going to write how I thought Jennifer had a chance to win this thing, and then bam, voted off. George, you better bring your game next time. Two very weak performances in a row. You want this thing or not?
And the red-headed impersonator lives on
What the heck is going on? JPL had his strongest night and he gets voted off. The red-headed freak does yet another Sinatra impersonation and survives. It was so close. He was one of the bottom two! How can you people vote for this guy?!
George is one lucky guy tonight though. I really thought there was a chance he would end up in the bottom three, along with Jasmine. They both got lucky this week. My other picks were respectable.
It will be a tough American Idol vote tomorrow
Usually it is really easy to figure out who goes and who stays. I didn’t see enough to change my guesses (see below), but I’ll take a shot at the bottom three and the one that has to go home anyway. Actually, I’ll take a guess of all the groups in case they do that put-everyone-in-to-a-group-and-try-to-make-them-all-sweat crap. Wait, there is no way to do 3 even numbered groups, so I’ll just go in order of best performance to last.
1 – Fantasia Barrino 2 – Jennifer Hudson 3 – La Toya London 4 – Jon Peter Lewis 5 – George Huff 6 – Jasmine Trias 7 – Diana DeGarmo 8 – John Stevens
This is how I think it went, but then again, I figured John Stevens would go for the last 2 weeks. He’s not still around based on talent, so all I can figure is there are a ton of old ladies dialing their behinds off at retirement homes all across America. I had a tough time with George this week. He was good, but I agree with the judges that he picked the wrong song to do. There’s a chance he will end up in the bottom 3, which could be the wake up call he needs, because I think he’s getting a little too comfortable lately from all the praise he’s been getting. Fantasia kicked butt tonight though, with the best performance she has ever done. Latoya is still my main pick to win this thing, but Fantasia will give her a run for her money if she keeps singing like she did tonight. You can’t count Hudson out for the top spot either. As much as I have been unimpressed with JPL, tonight was the best he has ever been. Jasmine and Diana bored me to tears. There is nothing there. Ladies, you better figure out something real soon or you’ll be sitting out in the audience watching the show go by without you. Maybe Simon is right and they are just too young. Although John Stevens is only 16, mentally he appears to be about 65, which is just embarrassing to watch anymore. Vote him off and end this misery. Send him out on a cruise ship where he can impersonate all the old crooners until his heart’s content. He’ll do great there. Just get him off my television.
American Idol, how could I be so wrong?
Update 4/7/04 – OK, what the heck is going on here?! How in the world is John Stevens surviving? It can not be on talent. Unbelievable. See ya Camile. I thought you’d make it a few more weeks.
If you watch the show, you probably have your own opinions as to who is any good and who is not so good. Well, so do I, and I’m taking a shot at picking what order people will place given my opinion of their talent.
Here we go:
1 – La Toya London 2 – George Huff 3 – Fantasia Barrino 4 – Jennifer Hudson 5 – Jasmine Trias 6 – Diana DeGarmo 7 – Camile Velasco 8 – Jon Peter Lewis 9 – John Stevens 10 – Amy Adams *
Remember, I’m basing this on my opinion of their performances. I may change it as time goes on because I am not 100% comfortable in the Top 5 rankings since anything can happen and they stay or go based on people phoning in votes.
* – I was already wrong, so I had to adjust before I even posted this! Amy deserved much better than this. She truly has talent. On the other hand, John Stevens, while a fantastic Dean Martin impersonator, is not that great of a singer. Not only should he have been voted out tonight on the basis of his awful performance, but he never should have made it anywhere near this far in the first place.
The Passion Of The Christ
First, a little background. I have never been an outwardly religious person. I have yet to read the Bible, and, although my Wife and kids go to Church every week, I am not there with them. When I was little and would visit my Grandma, she would make me go with her all of the time. It was not a fun experience. I’ll stop by saying it was just short of miserable. For a while, I did go with my wife. The Minister at our Church was fantastic. He held my interest and took a lot of the “boring” out of it for me. Then he moved on to another church…(click the Read More link for more)
