Visiting the House Of Mouse

We spent all of last week vacationing at Disney World Orlando. Usually I like to take a bunch of pictures and upload them each night to this Blog, but the connectivity was really, really bad at the Caribbean Beach Hotel where we stayed. I couldn’t even get a cell phone connection unless I left the room and walked out on to the property. Hey Verizon, can you hear me now? No!

On one hand it made it nice because it forced me to avoid checking in on things at work. On the other hand I really like to read news and other things on the Internet before I go to bed and that was pretty hard to do as well.

Things to be aware of if you head to Disney in the Summer: – You will be hot. Really hot. Lots of humidity hot. Like, it’s hard to breath sometimes hot. – Because it is so hot you will spend a lot of money on drinks. A bottle of water is $2. Ice cream is more. I recommend ice cream at least once a day (it is vacation after all!) – There are a million other people there at the same time heading to the same park that you are. – People are going to bump in to you and cut in front of you constantly. Most of them will be using their rented 2-seater giant plastic strollers to plow their way through. Others are foreign and just may not know any better. The rest are just plain rude and their parents are to blame for how they were raised. Absolutely none of them will ever say “excuse me” or apologize. – You will spend a lot of money on food. – You will spend a lot of your time standing; in lines, on crowded Disney buses, etc. – Your hotel room will probably not have high speed Internet connectivity in it unless you paid for one of the most expensive places. They are all supposed to be wired by the end of 2006.

But, even after all of the things that will drive you nuts, you’ll still find the following: – Watching your kids have a blast will make all of the above irritants worth it. – You’ll get a million photo opportunities that will be remembered forever. – You’ll have fun! – You’ll probably forget all of the bad and start planning when your next trip will be.

Since I’ve had such a problem with connectivity in Florida I won’t be posting any pictures until we get home. I’m hoping I’ll be able just to upload this text with the little bit of connectivity I have right now. I’m out by the pool at my Cousin’s house in Tampa watching all of the kids having a blast in the pool. The house is beautiful. Florida is beautiful (but hot). I could probably make the move but I’m sure my wife would never move. Weather is in the high 80′s and low 90′s. I believe it might actually be hotter at home right now.

Although I can’t upload all of the pictures I’ve taken, I will try to upload one of the little critters that we are finding everywhere.

The little guys are all over the place. Their pretty fast. I think they freak Valerie out. I’m sure they are another reason she wouldn’t move down here.
