Sirius Satellite – Day One

I’m not a big fan of the radio stations available to us in Pittsburgh. Most are owned by Clear Channel, which most of you remember as someone I boycott at every opportunity.
I went with Sirius because a) we own stock, that we purchased long ago assuming that Howard Stern would go there over XM, who happens to be partially owned by Clear Channel, and b) Howard is going there and I like him 51% of the time. The rest of the time Ralph or High Pitch are on and they just seem like a real waste of minerals to me.
So I listened to a bunch of different music today and I’m happy with pretty much all of it. I expect to be introduced to a ton of new music that I would never get the chance to hear on our local radio. Most of the time I listen to podcasts and music from my iPod anyway, so this was a comfortable step for me.
I’ll let you know how it works out over time, but so far I am happy with the decision to move to satellite radio. At this point having Howard on will just be gravy.
Catching up…
It’s been a while since I posted anything here so I thought I’d take advantage of being on Vacation and catch up a little.
Looks like the weather is going to stop me from golfing anymore this year. I won’t say it’s over yet, but it sure looks like it’s over when I look out the window. So I never made my goal of breaking 100. I did knock 25 strokes off this year when I shot a 101, but that’s pretty simple when you play as bad as I did at the beginning of the year. I have another 35-40 strokes to knock off my game in 8 years or I’ll never make the Senior Tour! 25 this year, next year’s goal is another 10. Then it won’t be so embarrassing to go golfing with people that are really good golfers.
My wife’s cousin Kathy sent us one of the coolest Christmas cards I’ve ever seen. To me it was more like art. They took the kids and put them all in jeans and dark shirts/sweaters and took a very casual black and white photo. I say casual because everyone just looks so natural in it whether they are looking right at the camera or cracking up laughing. It’s a great card. I hope they framed the original and hung it up somewhere. Don’t be surprised if I steal that idea for next year.
Being on Vacation for the past week hasn’t really felt like Vacation yet. It’s my own fault though since I keep checking email from work and getting involved with problems there. I’m going to push myself to avoid it next week. We’ll see how that goes.
Merry Christmas everyone!
