I’m not a big fan of the radio stations available to us in Pittsburgh. Most are owned by Clear Channel, which most of you remember as someone I boycott at every opportunity.
I went with Sirius because a) we own stock, that we purchased long ago assuming that Howard Stern would go there over XM, who happens to be partially owned by Clear Channel, and b) Howard is going there and I like him 51% of the time. The rest of the time Ralph or High Pitch are on and they just seem like a real waste of minerals to me.
So I listened to a bunch of different music today and I’m happy with pretty much all of it. I expect to be introduced to a ton of new music that I would never get the chance to hear on our local radio. Most of the time I listen to podcasts and music from my iPod anyway, so this was a comfortable step for me.
I’ll let you know how it works out over time, but so far I am happy with the decision to move to satellite radio. At this point having Howard on will just be gravy.
