New aquarium is starting to take shape

Our first week with the new aquarium had mixed results.  The new aquarium looks great with a mix of real plants and a couple things for the fish to swim around.  The levels are in great shape and the water is already cycling.  The bad news is we lost our first fish last night.  But, today I picked up 2 new fish; a Mickey Mouse Platy and a Black Skirt Tetra and they look great in the tank with our existing Tetra.  This weekend we will introduce Bob, our Beta in to the new tank and we’ll see how well everyone gets along.  I can see how easily this could turn in to a much larger hobby as I can already feel the limitations of a 6 gallon tank.  It seems like the more fish you have, the more fish you want.

This was no lazy Sunday

The day started by getting up at 5am to make a 7:15am tee time. This was easily the worst golf I have ever played. It’s like I forgot everything I ever knew. I could barely hit the ball 50 yards off the tee and it just dove down and to the left. When you’re not hitting the ball well, golf is miserable. Usually there is that one shot that makes you come back and play another day, but today that shot never happened. It was a very frustrating experience.

Just about everything I have hurts today; feet, ankles, right knee, lower back, shoulders, forearms, right wrist, neck. Must be from the golf and the cold weather because I don’t think it happened from cutting the grass.

But the fun part of the day happened when we went to Petland and picked up a 6 gallon tank and two new friends for Bob the Beta. It will be a week or so before we can add Bob to the new tank, but he’ll have a couple new roommates named Perl and Crystal. This tank setup is way nicer than the little Beta starter kit that we have.

UPDATE – It looks like Perl did notmake it as she is currently just at the bottom of the tank just kind floating along with the current. No fin movement at all. Bummer.
