The balls went everywhere…

Went to the driving range to try to work out my horrible golf game. I hit a few hundred balls with the irons and was finally getting some of the results I wanted, so I moved on to the driver. I’ve got some weird kind of mental block about the driver and I have been hitting it really bad.

So I took an almost full large basket of balls, nearly 100 of them, and put it in the tray where you normally pour the balls. Since I was hitting the driver so poorly I thought I would just try to use my left hand. I had heard that the right hand was just along for the ride anyway, so let’s see what the left can do alone. The first swing wasn’t too bad and I hit the ball OK. I was surprised, so I tee’d up another ball and tried to hit this was even further – still using just my left hand. Well, as the club came down it hit the basket of balls, sending them in to the divider between the tee mats and balls went everywhere. I mean everywhere. They went forward. The went over the divider in to the next tee box. They went behind me. Everywhere. There were not too many people there today so it wasn’t as embarrassing as the time I broke the 7 iron, but it was pretty funny.

The long honk goodbye

Do you know anyone that just has to honk “goodbye” when they leave someone’s house? I do. Every morning when they head to work @ 6:30am we hear the honking. When they head out to the grocery store they honk to their family goodbye. When they leave for the movies they honk. What’s with people that do that? Isn’t saying goodbye at the door enough?

They are otherwise very normal people. Maybe there is some kind of therapy for this affliction. Or, maybe the goodbye honk is normal and I’m the one that needs to adjust. That’s it! I’ll become a goodbye honker and walk a mile in their shoes.

Something for you to think about for the 6:30am honks – not everyone’s kids are awake at that time. Although, mine seem to wake up just after the morning goodbye honk. Probably just coincidence. Maybe we can negotiate a deal – give up the 6:30am honk and add an additional honk some time in the afternoon or evening – your choice.

So watch for me when you’re out and about – I’ll be the one honking goodbye. Honk honk!

Comcast or Verizon FIOS?

I finally heard from Verizon today letting me know that I can  now order FIOS.  I would be interested in the 15Mb down / 2Mb up plan, but at this point I think it comes down to cost.  Verizon is waiving all activation fee and installation costs.  If I commit to a 1 year deal I can get FIOS for $45 / month.  I’m pretty sure that this is what I already pay Comcast, and as I’ve written before, it may be too late for FIOS with me because Comcast got better.

I pay for 6Mb down / 384k up (which is too low upstream in my opinion) and typically get anywhere from 4Mb-13Mb download on various speed test sites.

If the costs were identical, what would you do?  I think Verizon needs a better deal to pull me away from Comcast.
