Is God real?

I go through these strange bouts of spiritualism that make me wonder if there really is a God. Is He everything you learn about in the Bible, or does science get closer and closer to disproving His existence? I usually end up with more questions than answers.

Over the past couple of months I’ve been going to church with the family on Sunday. It started out as something I did just to keep a little peace in the house, but every week has been a better and better experience. I’m not dreading going anymore. As a matter of fact, I actually get a little bit of a charge, or a boost to launch me in to my week. I know, I know, get a life, right?

But today’s sermon could have been written just for me. Today it was the question you see in the subject line: Is God real? To our Pastor the answer was obvious – of course He’s real, but he never shoved that down our throats. Instead he challenged us to investigate the truth for ourselves. It ends up that that is one of the main reasons I’ve been attending this church – I’m on an investigation. We’ll see what comes out of it. I’d like to believe God is real, but so much suffering in the world makes me suspicious.

I know this post is a lil' outdated, but...
It's funny that the suffering in the world makes you suspicious. We're all sinners, are all deprived from anything good and deserve death. We should be happy that at least God decided to reach out His hand out and offer hope so that one day we can be reunited with Him, where there is no suffering.
  • Satan? Hey, if God isn't real I'm pretty sure that brings in a good bit of doubt about your existence as well!

Your are wise to seek scientific evidence. Relying on faith and miralces will lead you down a road of disappointment.

I agree with "satan???" (what a lame nick). Relying on scientific evidence is good... but what is science? Using the fife senses we have... touch, smell, taste, vision & hearing... but what if there is another sense - our inner person. What if there are other dimensions that only our spirit has access to.
I came from where you are and I realized that it is not wise to rely only on the five senses, while invoking the inner experience, which may just have the answer.

This is how it starts. God is already working through you by challenging you to explore. Although I have always been a believer, I had a lot of questions too. This is how it starts. My friend you are on the path to awareness.

And remember - even the apostles had questions until they talked to the resurrected Jesus. Keep digging...the answers to the suffering stuff will come up too.
