When free equals frustrating
You see the signs – free WiFi! Free Internet at the hotel you just checked in to. Usually free is not a bad thing. Today, when I really need connectivity, free is an exercise in frustration.
Pittsburgh International Airport – free wireless. Max speed I could achieve was approximately 32k. 32k! Candlewood Suites in Burlington, Mass – happily plugged (no wireless) in to my “GigaSpeed” Ethernet jack and I am livin’ la vida loca at a whopping 200k. These speeds are terrible and it ruins the overall Internet experience. I’d be willing to pay for faster, more reliable Internet connectivity, but there is no other option where I am staying.
I appreciate the thought, but today is a perfect example of where choice, even if there was a cost, would have been nice. Fios has really spoiled me.
